Tethering Issues Reported in Newest Lightroom and OS El Capitan Releases

Recent updates to Lightroom and OS El Capitan have left photographers fuming and workflows disrupted. Between the removal of longtime features and bugs in latest releases, users are less than pleased.

Issues in Lightroom 2015.2/6.2

A large group of users have reported stability issues, and the program becoming unworkable less than a minute after opening, causes serious frustration. Adobe released a statement acknowledging the stability issues and addressing the interface changes. They offered a repair, which has had varied results:
  • Go to Lightroom > Preferences.
  • Click on the General tab
  • Uncheck “Show ‘Add Photos’ Screen”
  • Restart Lightroom
Update: Adobe has released an update to Lightroom CC 2015.2.1/6.2.1 that will reportedly provide a performance fix related to Import and also fixes crashing bugs identifying in the Lightroom CC 2015.2 / Lightroom 6.2 release.

Lightroom Tethering Issue Reported in OS El Capitan

Adobe has also discovered compatibility issues listed with users running Lightroom CC 2015 or Lightroom 6 with Mac OS 10.11 (El Capitan). In a recent update, Adobe reported these known issues: Tethering with Nikon and Leica cameras Tethering Nikon and Leica cameras using Lightroom CC 2015 and Lightroom 6 is not currently supported on El Capitan. Adobe recommends that customers who rely on Lightroom for tethering Nikon and Leica cameras do not upgrade to El Capitan at this time. The engineering team at Adobe is working with our partners to correct this issue and provide compatibility in the future.
