Securing your new Manfrotto Digital Director on location can make your shoot go much smoother. It’s definitely preferred to hanging it off something by the cable or setting it on the ground while your adjusting other elements of your shoot. Here is a slew of mounting options. They are all dependent on what you are trying to achieve and this is by no means an exhaustive list. If you are in search of a solution, please feel free to call us at 888-854-6565 and we will be happy to brainstorm the best solution for your needs.

Mounting to Arms

The Digital Director case offers one 3/8″ female mount on the back. Using a Baby Ball Head Adapter, you can change this 3/8″ mount to a female baby stud. This will allow you to mount the Digital Director onto a Rock Solid Articulating Arm which can be mounted to a tripod, fence post, tree branch or just about anything else using a Rock Solid Master ClampOur Rock Solid Heavy Duty Super Flex Arm also has a baby stud that will work with the Baby Ball Head Adapter. Again, you’ll want to use a Rock Solid Master Clamp in this configuration.

Mounting to a Stand

Using the Baby Ball Head Adapter, you can also mount it directly to a light stand or c-stand. In this case, we recommend using a Rock Solid Baby Elbow so that you can articulate the Digital Director and angle it for best viewing. If you are using the stand to support an Tether Table Aero, monitor or other piece of equipment, one of the arm options above would be your best bet.

Mounting to a Tripod

If you want to mount directly to a tripod and don’t want an arm protruding out, you can mount the Digital Director directly to a Rock Solid Master Clamp using a Rock Solid Dual 5/8″ (16mm) Baby Stud. Simply screw the 3/8″ screw side in the Digital Director and insert the baby stud side directly into the Rock Solid Master Clamp. Than you can clamp it directly onto a tripod leg.

Convert the female 3/8″ to a female 1/4″-20

Since so much of the photo industry gear in based off the 1/4″-20 standard, you can convert the Digital Director’s female 3/8″ to a female 1/4″-20 using the Rock Solid Hot Shoe Adapter. While this piece does allow you to mount a female 3/8″ to a camera’s hot shoe, it also has a convenient 1/4″-20 female thread on the hot shoe side. This will effectively allow you to mount your Digital Director to an EasyGrip Clamp, a PowrGrip suction mount, or a Rock Solid Tripod Adapter

With all these solutions, we recommend that you secure the USB cable and power plug using the JerkStopper for Digital Director.

As mentioned above, these are all dependent on what you are trying to achieve and this is by no means an exhaustive list. Please feel free to call us at 888-854-6565 and we will be happy to brainstorm the best solution for your needs.
