5 Creative Ways to Use the Look Lock System
Tether Tools’ Look Lock System was originally designed to mount a smartphone in your DSLR or mirrorless camera’s hotshoe to help get the attention of children to shoot great pictures of kids. But, like all of Tether Tools’ highly versatile products, the Look Lock can be used in a number of ways. Here are five of the more creative and useful ideas we’ve seen:
1. Creating a Teleprompter
When integrated with apps like ProPrompter and Teleprompter Pro, the Look Lock can keep your videos on point and scripted by turning your smartphone into a highly portable teleprompter. Perfect for creating videos on location, in-studio, or for starting a vlog.
2. Getting the Best Shots From Tough Subjects

Ever have difficulty getting the attention of your subject? Look Lock was created to catch the attention of photography’s toughest subjects – children. Photographers would keep their eyes focused by playing their favorite videos and apps on your mounted smartphone. Recently, we’ve also heard from pet photographers who’ve also used the Look Lock in the same way with great success!
3. Capturing Video and Stills at the Same Time

Just flip your smartphone over to record video while you’re shooting still images. This is a great tool for creating fun behind-the-scenes sneak peeks, broadcasting on Facebook Live mid-shoot, or creating videos that you can sell as an added value to clients. As an example, you’re at a kid’s birthday party and you want both a video of the group singing Happy Birthday AND a photo of him or her blowing out the candles. Look Lock to the rescue! The perfect solution for a tough situation.   4. Mounting a GoPro for a First-Person Video

First person shooters are all the rage these days. No, we’re not talking about the latest Call of Duty game, we’re talking about point-of-view (POV) videos from photographers using a GoPro or Action Camera! All you have to do is remove the Look Lock’s LoPro Phone Mount and screw on a GoPro Tripod Mount and you’re ready to go. It’s that easy. In addition to making some interesting behind-the-scenes videos, it’s a great way as a photographer to learn more about your own shooting behavior, especially when you’re under pressure or excited.
5. Mount Your Phone to Your Camera and Connect to Case Air

By adding your phone to the top of your camera you can shoot tethered wirelessly using the Case Air and check images on a larger screen on your smartphone, all in full high-definition resolution or even shoot directly using the app. Angle the arm towards you and position the phone right where you want it for ease of use. Perfect for controlling a time-lapse or advanced camera settings including exposure settings, bracketing, and HDR using the Case Air Wireless Tethering System’s Case Remote app.
