2-Day Photography Lighting Workshop with Zach Sutton in Los Angeles offered by Samy’s Photo School
This Photography Workshop, offered by Samy’s Photo School, is set to take place on June 2nd and 3rd 2017, and is a 2-day extensive workshop with a comprehensive look into photography and light shaping both in studio and on location in Los Angeles, CA. With over 16 hours of hands-on training, this 2-day workshop is designed to give the modern photographer a jump start into success within the industry. Both days are designed for the beginner to advanced photographer, and are formulated to teach photographers of all skill levels, bringing them up to speed quickly, drastically improving their work and workflow. Each day can be purchased individually, or at a discounted rate for the entire two-day package. About Day 1 Workshop This workshop is designed to give the student an extensive training on lighting subjects in an outdoor environment. Using off camera flashes and practical lighting techniques, students will learn how to effectively light subjects to create cinematic, yet natural looking light, with full control over everything. With gear provided for the day, not only do attendees get an extensive classroom experience explaining the practices and techniques, but they also are able to test and tailor these techniques on location with models for the afternoon. Attendees will then be able to help out in a one on one environment to achieve the lighting style that compliments their body of work. As an 8 hour class, this workshop is designed to be a comprehensive look into commercial lighting to help increase the standard of work with the goal of ultimately helping attendees get more jobs. Perhaps what makes this workshop special is that it does not only teach the principles, but it also provides an opportunity to test the principles using gear provided for the day. The gear that is used is essential for the work to be produced. By using off camera flashes, you are able to have full control of your lighting, and create incredible images.

About Day 2 Workshop

This workshop is designed to take everything you wanted to know about shooting in a studio, and overhauling it to create incredible images in tight spaces. The purpose of using a studio to create images is that you have full control over the light and environment. This class is designed to provide the principles and tools to help make visions come to life. Throughout the day, Zach will teach everything from turning a small room into a massive studio, to how to shoot major campaigns with large teams tethered to the process. This workshop is designed to give an A to Z on everything necessary to becoming an exceptional studio photographer. During these workshops, we work with what Zach considers to be the very best photography gear available. For lighting, we’ll be using Profoto B1 and Profoto B2 studio strobes, the industry standard for professional photoshoots. We will be pairing those with wireless trigger systems, which allow for wireless HSS firing up to 500ft. With a collection of modifiers, we will be able to diversify our lighting considerably, and create images that work best for each individuals portfolio. Zach is collaborating with Phase One. Phase One will be supplying a couple of their Phase One XF 100 MP camera systems for the day. Zach considers this camera to be the best he has ever used. Being able to use medium format camera systems like these, students will be able to get a more dynamic range, clearer photos, and better images to work with. Zach also offers up gear from his own camera bag to be used during the “On Location” portion of the workshop. Thus, Canon photographers in the call will be able to use his vast collection of prime lenses to help capture truly remarkable images. Finally, models will provided during the “on location” and “in studio” portion of the workshop for students to test the lighting principles they have learned. This means students will be able to learn, build and create stunning images for portfolios.
